Our program is a multi-tiered approach to increasing performance
and maximizing potential.
Bronze - Technique, strength,
coordination, and speed. The bronze level is built for those athletes who may
not be beginner athletes but are beginners to advanced sport training. In this
level XL coaches will help athletes develop body mechanics, sprint mechanics,
body weight strength, and speed.
Silver - Speed, power, and strength.
This is an intermediate level where athletes will become more familiar with
certain weightlifting techniques and advance to moderate intensity plyometrics.
The silver level is designed for those athletes who have previously
participated in and completed the bronze level or have been assessed by XL
staff and are recommended.
Gold - Explosive power, explosive speed,
and explosive strength. The gold level is where athletes will work to improve
on all of their explosive technique. Athletes should already be familiar with
all of the Olympic lifts and have a strength base that will allow them to
participate in the highest intensity plyometrics. The gold level is designed
for those athletes who have attended the bronze and silver levels or have been
assessed by XL staff and are recommended.
Running:
Our running program is based on our high speed treadmill
which leads to longer and quicker strides. Increasing stride
length while decreasing foot to ground contact time will
improve running time dramatically. Our force treadmill helps
athletes to develop force during running. Our treadmills
incorporated with ground training make the XL program the
top training center around.
Plyometric:
Our plyometric program is periodized with our strength and
running program to bring you to peak performance at the
optimal time. We use plyometric boxes, Russian boxes, and
resistance bands to help improve power production.
Strength:
The XL strength program is safe and extremely effective
in teaching athletes body control. Strength is necessary
in the prevention of injury and the improvement of athletic
ability. Here at XL sport we have designed strength programs
based on individual athlete requirements
Sport Psychology:
University of Northern Iowa's Sport Psychology department
has partnered with XL Sports Acceleration to help motivate
and train athletes' psychological skills. Dr. Mick Mack
leads this motivational program by providing the XL Sports
Acceleration Program with an intern to coach the athletes
in psychological skills.
